My Three Favorite Looks From The Week Of 9/28/15

(all images via www.vogue.com)

You may have noticed from my choices this week that I have actually selected four favorites instead of three. When it comes to Spring/Summer 2016 Ready to Wear, it is treacherous to select only three looks considering how much fashion inspiration there is! Don't you just love Paris Fashion Week!

For the third week in a row I have come across the most beautiful sheer dresses, and this one from Chloe is no different. The combination of pastel colors is so delicate, yet the tassels and transparent fabric give the overall look a little edge and sex appeal. Judging from seeing this look on various designer runways, this will definitely be a hot trend!

I am so proud to say I have always been a fan of MK&A's fashion choices and The Row Collection for the S/S 2016 season did not disappoint! I cannot fault one look from this season's compilation. Need I say more to prove why I chose two looks from this collection! Generally they tend to keep the colors and silhouettes very basic, which is sheer genius considering how trendsetting they are! I mean the sleeves on the first model are everything! I just want to live in these looks for the next year! Though high fashion, you don't need to be a size 0 to pull off the first model's look. The simplicity of the frock (in the second look) combined with the ulta-mini length is true to Row style. Just beautiful fabric and clean lines is what we have come to expect from this line.

I can honestly admit the last look from Tom Ford is an acquired taste. I am a huge fan of the relaxed pant, and when combined with a feminine blouse can be such a cool and trendsetting look! It is apparent this look will be around for the next year, so for those who have not acquired the taste maybe it's time!

My Three Favorite Looks From The Week Of 9/21/15

(all images via www.vogue.com)

Fashion week continues... in Milan! I am head over heels for these three looks from Luisa Beccaria, Alberta Ferretti, and Salvatore Ferragamo, respectively! As we all know much of the fashion trends originate from Europe, so it's time to take note!

To be honest, I am not extremely familiar with the designer Luisa Beccaria but judging from this look and a preview of the S/S 2016 collection it is very similar to Philosophy. The styling is not my favorite, it reminds me of a cross between "ladies who lunch" and festival fashion, I do however love this dress! The deep v-cut and sheerness of the fabric is perfectly combined with a more conservative and dainty print. It's all about balance my friends! My final verdict-- You can be that lady that lunches or a festival goer and still look fabulous and age appropriate in this dress.

The styling of the second look is something I typically gravitate towards. It's minimal, yet the details are edgy and prevalent. A messy bun with statement earrings is total must in the summer, and frankly any season for that matter! The lace detail on the linen maxi dress is perfection! This what I mean by edgy-- the concept is simple but the look is perfectly "careless" it's genius!

Not all super heroes wear capes, but invest in one if you want to be a hero in the fashion world! Ivory cape over an ivory dress with a pop of color in the shoes-- how chic! I have also been seeing the "big pearl on a thin strand" necklaces everywhere! Beautiful encore by Salvatore Ferragamo!

My Three Favorite Looks From The Week Of 9/14/15

(all images via www.vogue.com)

This week was the commencement of New York Fashion Week S/S 2016, and of course I had to celebrate in style (pun intended) by choosing my three favorite looks from the runway. The first two shots are from the Naeem Khan Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Truth be told if I could I would put every look from the show into this post, but sadly I have to keep it to task, as well as add some variety. I chose Julien Macdonald's Spring/Summer 2016 collection as the final selection.

Naeem Khan is by far my favorite designer of all time! His creativity and talent are clearly evident this season, frankly throughout his career for that matter. It also helps that the styling is completely on point! The silhouette, the colors, the accessories-- the workings of a masterpiece by a mastermind!

Though I am not a fan of the hair and make-up (it is a trend I am trying my best to avoid), I do love this piece by Julien Macdonald. The draping of this dress is beautifully done; considering the length is not ultra short, this makes the dress sexy instead of tacky. The boxy/relaxed fit is something we have come to love about summer dresses. I am also happy to see the lace up sandal will be around next year, because I am a huge fan!

My Three Favorite Looks From The Week Of 9/7/15

I'm spotting a trend here... I think I died and went to shimmer/sequence heaven (please don't take me back!). To no surprise, my three favorite looks for this week are all from New York Fashion Fashion S/S 2016, and I'm sure everyone spotted the clear cut theme here. Glitter and shimmer will be everywhere for the Spring and Summer 2016 season! My picks are from Prabal Gurung, Sally LaPointe, and Tibi respectively.

The first look needs no introduction, because a copper sequence dress + olive skin + a deep v-cut = undeniable perfection! The second look has the workings of an experienced and fabulous stylist (and of course designer). A metallic/silver sheath combined with a beaded red trench is a like a fairytale come true, but with those nude cutout sandals, well we can all feel like Cinderella (warning: prince not included)! The last look is so delicate yet with a hint of sex appeal, given the sheer stripes on the dress and the openness on the sides of the dress (a la overalls effect).

I also want to direct your attention to the absence accessories. I kind of admire this bareness. A beautiful piece requires no validation and no compliment-- it's a mere work of art. Who knew it can be so hard to keep something so simple? I guess we call this life in general!

My Three Favorite Looks From The Week Of 8/31/15

(carolinesmode.com)

I feel like this week I had an overload of fashion inspiration, in fact I had a hard time picking my three favorites, although these most certainly stood out from the rest. I should probably be preparing myself for the abundance of photos I am about to come upon for New York Fashion Week.

My first selection is Diane Kruger at the Venice Film Festival. Although I am not always a fan of some of her looks she is definitely considered a trendsetter amongst the fashion world. I do admire that she is a risk taker and never looks boring. Granted she did use a tried and true look here (feminine frock with menswear boots), the pieces themselves are very beautiful! The dress is very intricate and yet not delicate to slowly transition into her rugged boots. The soft hair is also a perfect touch! No jewelry either to keep the look simple yet contemporary.

Hailee Steinfield hasn't really been on my radar, but lately I have found myself coming across her "Fashion Spot" page often. She must have hired a new stylist because her looks have been very bold yet smooth in delivery. I noticed her mixing colors and patterns with the grace of a fashion elitist! Way to go! The pink and blue hues are beyond gorgeous, and the cut of the skirt is completely on point!

The last look is from a Stockholm streetstyle blog, which by the way is a great resource for fashion inspiration, many of the looks are rather eccentric but for the most part very fashion forward. This one in particular will be set aside in my mental lookbook for use this fall. A simple button down with a structured leather skirt, a drawstring bag (which is a great investment for the coming seasons), and a pop of color in the shoes. This woman also added a favorite of mine-- a long necklace with a low V-neck. Maybe I should be considering a trip to Stockholm...

My Three Favorite Looks from The Week Of 8/24/15

So I don't need to remind everyone September 1st is a few days away, hence this week all my favorite looks are transitional summer to fall outfits. The first look is from the Fall 2015 Balmain Runway Show. Lately I've been stocking up on fringe in preparation for fall so needless to say this was right up my fashion alley. Normally I'm not keen on the color orange but this is on a whole new level. My opinion is the pant is an updated take on leggings which is extremely clever; that hint of flare in the leg is just the right silhouette in conjunction with the tight fitted dress. Leave it to Balmain to style this so perfectly and elegantly!

The second look if from one of my favorite blogs-- www.somethingnavy.com by Arielle Charnas. Her styling is very polished and dainty which is always admirable! The shorts and the pastel colors are more summer-y, but the sweater and ankle boots are synonymous with fall fashion. The hidden message here is use colors to tie in seasonal clothing.

The final look is Fashion Editor Giovanna Battaglia from Stockholm Fashion Week. I have always been a huge fan of her style, always fashion forward and fun! She is also a sweetheart in person (I was very lucky to meet her)! This outfit is such a fresh take on a "t-shirt and jeans." My favorite part is different hues of blue are used through the entire outfit but you don't get the '"matchy-matchy" vibe. That bag (heart-eyes emoji), here we go with the fringe again. I am telling you fringe is key for the fall!

My Three Favorite Looks From The Week of 8/17/15

My first favorite look is from Actress Shay Mitchell, and sadly we don't see enough of her candids or red carpet looks. I can't comment on her acting ability as I don't watch "Pretty Little Liars," but hopefully she will stay on the circuit because girl got style (or an awesome stylist). Yes, the blazer as a dress has been done before, but this is a refreshing take-- white for summer time, a rockin' pattern (thanks to Versace), and the perfect belt! The simple metallic shoe was just the right fit for this outfit! Modern Cinderella moment!!!

The next two looks are from two separate blogs, and if I may mention will be added to my internet surfing rotation. The third look, especially, comes from a blog with a huge list of inspirational streetstyle! The selection was by pure chance but I realize the second photo is a great summer look, while the third reminds me of the beginning of fall. We here in LA do not experience much seasonal weather-- but we do throw on the occasional long sleeve for autumn.

The eyelet dress is so light and dainty; paired with the red checkered wedges makes it such a femine yet fashionable look. In my opinion, the length of the dress is just right, too long and it would look like a muumuu. Just so easy to throw on, yet looks polished. My suggestion when attempting a similar look is to keep the jewelry minimal and let all the prints and colors stand out.

I picked the last look because it's classy yet edgy, which is my favorite style combo! The oversized white button down should be a staple for any woman's closet-- you can wear it as a cover-up, pair with some jeans, tuck it into a skirt, and the list goes on and on. The destroyed skinny jeans are a perfect pairing for the polished top, and the printed heels bring the whole look together. Add a couple key accessories, i.e. a handbag and some shades and you have yourself an easy breezy, cool outfit! From experience I recommend wearing heels when pairing an oversized top with jeans, it just keeps the look more refined rather than sloppy.

My Three Favorite Looks From The Week of 8/10/15

I am not normally a fan of Kirsten Dunst's street style, but her September 2015 Town and Country Cover is absolutely beautiful, especially the little number above. I love the lacy frock with the edgy booties. The cover (not shown) is a bit more preppy in line with the magazine's content and style, so I was surprised to see this look slightly stray away from the norm. Although the cut of the dress is rather conservative, I would never say it's boring. The simple wavy hair and natural makeup compliment the total look. Heading to the newsstand for my copy now!

I still remember watching Jamie Chung on the Real World San Diego and she had great style even back then! I am glad to see her style has matured and progressed, and I do regularly find street style inspiration from her. This all white outfit with a pop of blue in the handbag is simple yet elegant and fun. Technically it can be misconstrued as "been there done that" but because all the pieces of her wardrobe have different textures, it makes the look more fashion forward. The slit on the skirt is also just the perfect touch!

The last look from Jessica Szohr is so perfectly summery I just had to include it! Considering we are in mid August I would like to hold on to summer just a little bit longer by channeling this outfit into my own closet. The combo of blue and orange works so well together I really wish it was done more often. It baffles me why stylists don't take more risks on younger clients! The print on the dress could be considered a little casual but because she (or her stylist) pairs it with such a fabulous tie-up, heeled sandal she can literally wear it anywhere!

My Three Favorite Looks From The Week of 8/3/15

(thesartorialist.com)

(zaful.com)

(shopdailychic.com)

This week I felt as though I went a little Pinterest crazy, and as a result all my favorite looks were discovered via the website. To my defense, Pinterest photos are collected from various sources. Case in point the first look is from the thesartorialist.com. I can't even remember how long I have been a follower of this website (probably before the author even came close to a book deal). I love that his photos are so raw and fashion forward. Although I have to admit, I am not a fan of all the style shots he photographs, sometimes you come across a gem which make scrolling through all the pages worthwhile.

The second and third looks are both from online retailers, and yes you're welcome. I really wish I had somewhere to wear this dress, but maybe I will buy it just because it's $24.99!!! I know the fashion rule is not to buy something thinking you may wear it someday, but does it count if I can wear it at home and feel like I'm in St.Tropez? As for the last look, I can certainly think of many places to show off this ensemble. Granted summer is almost over, in my opinion white wide leg pants will eternally be a summer staple. The fit is so flattering and white is synonymous with a summer wardrobe. I also love the combination of the floral bralette with a structured bag!

I adore the colors on Harper's Bazaar UK September 2015 cover. In juxtaposition with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's slightly messy hair and pillowy lips, the pastel colors and girly dress look like such a cool combo. The top part of her Prada dress reminds me slightly of the silhouette on my prom dress (clearly I have been a fan of this look for many years). Generally Prada designs are slightly more conservative then what I like, but this dress in particular has just a low enough v to impress me. The detailed embroidery is also nothing short of amazing.

I don't need to say much about Gwyneth Paltrow's look because it's just perfection! This dress will never go out of style, I promise! It's nice that she paired it with platform sandals to make the look a little more trendy and modern. It's so hard to find a style icon which is both classy and stylist, but she is definitely it!

The final look is from Net-A-Porter's "The Edit" magazine. Something about the detail from each piece ties the whole look together flawlessly. Don't you just love good styling! This look makes me wish summer never ends :)

My Three Favorite Looks From The Week of 7/20/15

I have to admit I've been a fan of Hilary Duff since her "Lizzie McGuire" days. We're similar in age, and her show was then a favorite for many pre-teen girls. Fun fact: The filming was actually done at my high school in West Los Angeles. It's refreshing to see that she has stayed so wholesome and classy throughout so many years. Although her event looks are usually flawless I do admire her street style candids. Noticeably she doesn't shy away from colors, and this look exemplifies that. I wouldn't think to put together yellow and red, but I do really like this! It may be that separately both the dress and shoes have beautiful details which probably helps to put together the look, either way it looks great! Looking forward to try this combo!

Cara Delevingne, that is all I have to say. Forget the fact that she drop dead gorgeous, a supermodel, cool, fun, can sing, I can keep going-- but now she is also an actress! I am actually proud of this jealousy I have for her. I picked this look from her recent movie premiere in particular because it's rather different for her. I normally see her dressed down in a more casual swag (although she can probably make a garbage bag look amazing), this is a new level of glamor for her. The cut out on the chest is a perfect hint of sexy, along with the length and style this dress is just beautifully crafted! Sequence can be either tacky or classy, but I wouldn't expect anything less of perfect from YSL.

The last look I stumbled upon on Pinterest. I was eventually redirected to a seemingly Spanish blogger with gorgeous style-- bless the power of the Internet. Of course her dress is vintage-- basically anything this beautiful and intricate is rarely recreated or found at Bloomy's or Nordstrom. I have to admit other then the pattern, the design of the dress is actually pretty simple. This inspires me to find some beautiful fabric and have a similar dress or caftan sewn for me! I will keep you all updated on the fruition of this project!

My Three Favorite Looks From The Week of 7/13/15

(style.com)

Despite my love for culottes and wide pants I promise I did not choose my three favorite looks from this weeks simply based on this factor. Normally I have a hard time selecting my three favorites from the multiple photos I come across, but this week was rather slim pickens. I do my research from recent fashion shows, parties, street style/blogs, and star style. I'm not sure if this week was a slow week for fashion, but when I came across all three of these looks I knew these were it!

In the first look, I not only love the wide pants and crop top on model Jayne Moore, but the color combo is on point (especially with the red purse). Many fashion books (or so called guides) will tell you not to combine black and navy blue, but personally I hate this supposed rule! In my opinion, it's a very chic combo!

I adore actress Gabrielle Union's revival of the 70's twin set. Absolutely gorgeous! By adding a sleeveless trench it brings a touch of high fashion and edge. More than likely this was styled for her, but the blue tones from her outfit with a jade purse work really well together. Most people would shy away from the multiple colors, but I feel like when some of the tones are muted (such as her pants and top), it is a definite do!

Sara Sampaio's look is an excellent take on the "little black" ensemble! The culottes with an oversized sleeveless blazer are great for the summer but also very rock and roll/hip. Granted I would not personally wear all black, I think it looks fabulous on her! A pop of color on the shoes, bag, or jewelry would be my take on the look.

My Three Favorite Looks From the Week of 7/6/15

(hollywoodreporter.com)

(style.com)

(style.com)

When I first came across this image from this year's AMFAR soiree, I couldn't really pinpoint why I fell in love with this look. Then, I realized it's Naomi Campbell! This is how you wear a "little black dress" ladies and gentleman. She can do no wrong! Just the right amount of accessories and a perfect dress fit!

Italian socialite Bianca Brandolini D'Adda (left) had a lot of fabulous looks from the 2015 Paris Couture Week, but this one was my favorite. I would say I am becoming a fan of the see through look when done elegantly and properly, like this.

Although Lily Donaldson's outfit is very minimalistic, it is very a la Kate Moss. I love how she lets the dress stand out-- no jewelry, simple shoe, and an added thin belt. Her hair is "perfectly messy" and her make up is appropriate for evening time, but once again doesn't steal the spotlight from her dress. I also love how this can totally be pulled off by an average gal!

My Three Favorite Looks of the Week, 4th of July Edition

(pinsbox.com)

(glamradar.com)

(1sillaparamibolsoblog.ed)

As promised via Instagram my favorite 4th of July looks. Healthy reminder you don't have to wear red, white, and blue head to toe or the American flag. In fact, to look more hip and stylish it is better to keep to two colors (or even one) since the combo of all three will rarely be worn on any other day.

The first look is literally wearable anywhere! Beach, BBQ, bar, you name it this will work. Casual yet edgy, fun and cool. Great choice! The second look is a little more daring because of the midriff, and it is casual so will most likely work for a relaxed get-together with friends. The last look is absolute perfection! If your plans require more formal wear, this will probably have people fawning over you. I believe they actually sell this on the website indicated (just guessing from my very feeble Spanish understanding of their site).

Happy styling, and wishing everyone a fabulous holiday! Stay tuned for my own look coming in the next few days. I will leave you with my 4th of July look from two years ago.

My Three Favorite Looks from the Week of 6/22/15

(style.com)

(saboskirt.blogspot.fr)

I have decided to make it a weekly occurrence to share my three favorite looks. This week I have added a menswear still from the Giorgio Armani Spring 2016 Fashion Show. When I look at this man I think of a high-power, corporate executive who deep down inside is an edgy trendsetter. I love the pop of pastel color, the scarf around the neck, and the funky glasses mixed in with a conservative pant. Not crazy about the shoes, but I also saw them on the Givenchy runway so most likely this is gearing up to be a trend. Gentlemen, take note! Following is a look from the Naeem Khan Resort 2015 compilation. There is a clear prevalence of his usual formal and elegant style, yet this is actually wearable! Obsessed with the intricate beading and print! Of course it looks perfect paired with a delicate nude sandal! The last look is from saboskirt.blogspot.fr (seemingly a french blogger). I actually came across this on Pinterest and thought this was the singer Ciara, long behold I was redirected to a mecca of inspiration and fabulous looks of both travel and fashion. I am still confused as to whether the main model is the blogger or if this an online clothing boutique (per description on the Facebook page). Regardless, I would never assume light blue and gold would come together so beautifully!

My Three Favorite Looks from the Week of 6/15/15

I wanted to share my weekly fashion inspirations with everyone. The first look is from Rachel Zoe's Resort 2016 Collection. That back, wow! The second look is model and fashion trendsetter Elena Perminova at the Dior Cruise 2016 Show.  I have been a huge fan of hers for some time now. She normally does more grand and elaborate looks that are difficult to apply to an average wardrobe, but in this case I feel as though anyone can pull off a shift dress with black patent ankle boots. The third look is something I came across on Pinterest. I love the juxtaposition of her dress and bag, and how cool it looks paired together. So effortless yet so hip! Enjoy, and be inspired!
